When Mirabella Seattle was featured in the Sunday issue of The New York Times it became official: Mirabella is now recognized as one of the country’s finest new senior-living communities. In an article titled “Retirement Homes Go High-Rise and Urban,” the Times extolled the many virtues offered by Mirabella Seattle.

The paper notes the hotel-style amenities, fine services, luxurious apartment homes, and on-site health care residents of Mirabella will enjoy. But the Times also points out what many senior-living experts believe is truly driving what they call an “urban renaissance.” According to demographic researchers, retirees are drawn to the city because of the many cultural, educational, and recreational opportunities easily available. People who are retiring today are very different from those who retired over the past two decades. Instead of turning inward and slowing down, today’s CCRC residents are looking out toward an exciting future and gearing up for new adventures in living. And this is why they are gravitating to Mirabella.

renderingIn addition, Mirabella’s location in South Lake Union provides residents with unparalleled convenience. Just two blocks away is the brand-new Whole Foods grocery store and the five-star Pan Pacific Hotel. Also within walking distance, residents will find landmark establishments such as Chandler’s Cove, 13 Coins, Bonefish, and Daniel’s Broiler alongside a host of newer eateries offering food from around the globe. There are over 28 restaurants and cafes within walking distance of Mirabella: Marazul Restaurant and Lounge features a menu of Asian-Cuban fusion; the South Lake Grill offers traditional steak and seafood fare; and Vivace Café serves fine Italian coffee. There’s also Paddy Coyne (Irish), Feierabend (German), Yale Street’s Deli (New York), Mad Pizza, and the brand-new Cajetan Deli and Bakery.

Mirabella is also close to the Cornish College of Arts and has already established a relationship with them so that residents can enjoy volunteering on campus and students from the college can look forward to performing in Mirabella’s 300-seat auditorium/theatre. And now, with the new South Lake Union Streetcar connection starting next month, residents will be able to catch the streetcar just two blocks from their home at Mirabella.

Regional Marketing Director Diane Masson says, “Our future residents tell us that one of the things that they like best about Mirabella is its location, which is close to everything. They are very energetic individuals with a great gusto for living. They want to enjoy everything that Seattle has to offer and they want to stay involved in the larger community.”

Mirabella garnered additional recognition when Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels visited Mirabella’s construction site recently. While there, he shared his thoughts with Diane. As Diane relates it, “Mayor Nickels was very impressed with the wealth of services and amenities Mirabella is going to offer, and said it’s going to be a wonderful addition to Seattle. He also thinks it’s a perfect location for seniors who very clearly want to stay connected to the city.”
