Collaboration Is Everything
There’s a hot topic out there in our global society, and because Pacific Retirement Services (PRS) is always on the cutting edge, we’re already putting it to work in creating our new communities. This much-talked-about topic of our time is “collaboration,” and how it is going to, as the authors of a new, bestselling book state, “rock our world.”*
Sounds too simple to be true, but it turns out scientists are studying the art of collaboration as a sort of engine—one that can make remarkable things happen. At PRS, we’ve created our own collaboration engine and are running it on full throttle at Mirabella Seattle.
We started by inviting all Charter Members to participate in the Charter Member Committee (or Committees) of their choosing. Our goal was to encourage Mirabella’s future residents to participate in the very creation of their new community. Through PRS’s many years of experience, the PRS Team has learned that the best way to create the CCRC of future-residents’ dreams is to have future residents themselves be a part of the entire development process.
At Mirabella Seattle, Charter Member Committees include a Design Committee, which is working on choosing the art that will grace Mirabella’s walls; an Activities Committee, which oversees the Library and Woodshop; and the Dining Committee, which is choosing the flatware, crystal, and wine selection. Additional
committees will be forming as Mirabella gets closer to opening.
This type of collaboration has been incredibly successful for PRS and the residents who live in our communities. As Senior Vice President Paul Riepma explains, “Collaborating directly with Charter Members as we go through the development process benefits everyone who will live at Mirabella. It’s very satisfying to get resident input, discover exactly what they are looking for, and learn what’s really important to them. By working together, we’ve created some of the most remarkable CCRCs in the nation, and Mirabella Seattle will be a standout among them.”
