As May arrives an update of our web site shows exciting progress. This elevation is a great example of all of the exterior details that are being completed around the building. This is a view from the southwest corner of Fairview Avenue and Denny Way looking northeast. This is the signature view of the building as we are looking at the Gateway Corner for the South Lake Union Neighborhood. This is known as Zone 4. Progress is being made on the metal panel installation, direct applied stucco, railings, and the third level cornice. Work will begin this month on the final sidewalks and street improvements along Denny Way.

This is a view from Minor Avenue looking northwest down the block towards the Denny Way elevation of Zones 4 and 3. This exterior elevation is extremely detailed and complex hinting at the richness and varied palette that will comprise the finished veneer of the building.

Here is a view looking west to northwest down Denny Way toward Mirabella, with the Space Needle in the background behind Zone 4 on the left. The completion of the exterior structural components is evident in the photograph, with only a few windows not installed for logistical access reasons. All major equipment and material has been placed on the roof or around the building allowing the dismantling of the north tower crane which is visible underway on the upper right. This is another major milestone for the building.

This is a view from the west side of Fairview Avenue looking southeast toward the building. If you ever wondered how they removed the site tower cranes, this picture has the answer. A larger mobile crane is brought to the site and the site tower crane is disassembled and placed on trucks for removal. In this view the main jib and gantry of the crane is removed with the counterbalance section ready for removal next. Somewhat interesting is the fact that the twenty foot sections that make up the crane tower are removed all the way to the basement and lifted up through the “hole” in the finished structure. Those holes will be poured with concrete, steel, and cables to complete the structure.

This is a view of the main nursing station on level-two off of the Zone 2 elevator, giving you a good view of some interior finishes. Physical Therapy is to the right down the corridor in the photograph.

| This is a view from Denny Way near the Lenora Street intersection looking east to northeast down Denny Way toward Mirabella. This gives you another view of the large mobile crane that is used to dismantle the north tower crane. From this angle the completion of the masonry veneer from Denny Way around Fairview Avenue, into and through the courtyard, and out again along Fairview Avenue is apparent. |
