Here is a view from Denny Way looking NW to Fairview across Zone 3 to Zone 4. This shows the progress on the elevator cores, columns, exterior walls and slab-on-grade in these two zones. The slab-on-grade is completed across the south end of Zones 4 and 3 from the elevator cores south to the exterior walls. Form work started in Zone 4 for the first floor as you can see the supports and form work in the background.
This is a view from the corner of Fairview Avenue and John Street looking SE across Zone 1 with Zone 3 in the background. Structural excavation is completed in Zone 1 which is the last zone and what you see in the foreground is the excavation of the mat footing for elevator core of Zone 1. The dirt is covered with a light coat of concrete called a rat-slab, to protect the soil during the installation of the structural reinforcement steel. Poured columns from Zone 2 on the left and Zones 3 and 4 across to the right of the background are visible. The Zone 3 elevator core is visible in the background; note that the inner forms to the core have been raised to the next level in preparation for forming the first floor in that zone.
This is a view from the corner of Fairview Avenue and Denny Way looking NE across Zone 4. The bottom formwork is in place for this area of the first floor. This is the signature corner of the building; and the visible curve in the forms delineates the location of the outer wall. The “Sail” sculpture will go in the foreground on the lower area outside of the curve. This part of the plaza will be an extension of the sidewalk and our main “face” toward the City proper.
