Science Proves the Benefits of Living in a CCRC!
A scientific study conducted between 2002 and 2003 by Dr. Margaret A. Wylde’s ProMatura Group found that seniors who live in Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRCs) are more satisfied with their daily lives and are more likely to be happy than their contemporaries who remain in their own homes.
It also found that the social and recreational programs offered at CCRCs provided seniors with many opportunities to meet new friends. Equally important, the study found that CCRC residents were more likely to report that their current health status was better than it had been in the previous two years, as compared with seniors who remained in their own homes.
The Study of Independent Living Residents and the Communities in Which They Reside was published by the American Seniors Housing Association. It was based on written surveys completed by 1,053 independent living residents and the staff of those 200 communities.
