New York Times Recognizes Mirabella
On Sunday, April 1, 2007, the full national run of The New York Times newspaper highlighted Pacific Retirement Services (PRS) and Mirabella Seattle in part one of a two-part series on modern retirement.
Mirabella was featured in the article because it embodies everything the seniors of today are looking for. Instead of the “retirement homes” of yore, today’s retirees are looking for communities that allow them to remain actively engaged in life. Mirabella, offering a wealth of services and amenities, health and wellness programs, and fun activities and events is exactly what people are looking for. And because Mirabella is a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) residents know they have access to a full range of health care services if they ever need them.
The article paid special attention to the newest retirement trend—seniors who move to metropolitan communities located in urban neighborhoods. Fueling this trend is the desire to be close to the cultural opportunities, shopping, restaurants, and energy found only in cities like Seattle. As PRS’s Senior Vice President of Marketing says, “Today’s retirees want to be connected to the energy of the city.”
The article also quoted two of Mirabella’s Charter Members, David and Sandy Rensvold, who told the Times that they wanted to be downtown because that’s “where all the fun is at.”
