Construction is Under Way!

April 16, 2009

This view is from the southwest at the corner of SW Moody and SW Gaines looking northeast, taken from the 22nd floor of the new Riva building. The tower half of Mirabella (center of picture) continues to climb skyward. The level-6 post tension slab (north) was poured on Tuesday, 04-14-2009. At the bottom left of the picture, the City of Portland continues construction on the South Waterfront Neighborhood Park which is likely to open late fall of 2009.

This view is of the northwest corner of Mirabella looking south, taken from the corner of SW Bond and SW Curry. This view highlights the large structural columns that support the post tension concrete slabs. The temporary forming system panels and shoring poles are partially seen at the top of the photo supporting level-3 and level-4. The entry canopy has been stripped of formwork and shoring poles and is clearly visible at the lower right of photo.

The above view is looking north at the tower half of Mirabella as the structural core walls, middle of photo, are being poured from level-6 to level-7. Also visible are the two distinctively different form panels that are being utilized during the post-tensioned concrete slab pours. The smaller form panels, seen at the lower right of the photo have been used for the podium while the larger “flier panels” seen middle right of the photo are being utilized for the tower formwork. The bright green caps at the top of the two-story high pipes in the center of the photo are referred to as tie-off posts. The tie-off posts extend approximately 20 feet above the deck and are painted bright green which helps the tower crane operator identify their location. They have no structural significance, simply used for safety during slab formwork. Mt. St. Helens (middle right) and downtown Portland (middle left) seen in the distance from this level-7 vantage point.
