Construction is Under Way!
March 2, 2009

Mirabella at South Waterfront continues upward, with the northern or Tower side of the Level 3 post-tensioned concrete slab in advanced stages of preparations leading up to a March 5th pour. The above bird’s-eye view of the site was taken from the 15th floor eco terrace of the OHSU Center for Health & Healing to the northwest.

Above is a view on March 2nd of the northwestern quadrant of the site from the Level 7 Podium slab to the south. Advanced preparations are in progress for the Level 3 north post-tensioned concrete slab pour, scheduled for March 5th. Placement of reinforcing steel is also in progress for the columns and Tower core walls extending from Level 3 to Level 4.

The southern (left in photo) and eastern (center-right in photo) facades of Mirabella’s Podium structure as seen from across SW River Parkway along Pennoyer Accessway on March 2nd. Podium post-tensioned slabs have been poured through Level 7, with temporary forming system panels and shoring poles fully removed from the Podium structure. Visible at the upper right in the photograph, structural steel framework for the Podium’s mechanical penthouse at Level 7 is partially erected. Also visible is interior wall framing underway on Levels 1 and 2, with layout started on Level 3. This view of the Podium will change dramatically in the coming weeks and months with the soon-to-start perimeter wall framing, followed not long after by the start of exterior façade materials and systems.

Above is a view looking eastward on March 2nd from the inside of Mirabella’s Classroom and Auditorium, located at the southwestern quadrant of the Ground Floor (Level 1). Visible in the above photograph is interior metal stud wall framing underway, as well as the installation of limited gypsum wallboard.

Above is an interior view looking eastward on March 2nd from Level 2 Skilled Nursing, taken near the southwest corner of the Podium. Interior metal stud wall framing is underway, and the layouts for individual apartment homes can be identified by the metal stud header tracks shown installed to the underside of the Level 3 slab (see the underside of the ceiling in the upper part of the above photograph). Also visible in the above photo is the start of HVAC ductwork (far right in the photo along the southern perimeter edge) and staged copper piping for domestic water distribution. Slab recesses for apartment showers are visible at lower left in the photo.
