Construction is Under Way!

Now into the tenth week of on-site construction activities, Mirabella at South Waterfront progress continues at a brisk pace (visible in the above photograph to the left or east of the grassy future South Waterfront Neighborhood Park).
A bird’s-eye view of the Mirabella construction site from the northwest shows the significant removal of excess soils from the site that has occurred during the past three weeks (notice how much deeper the ‘hole’ is compared to the previous website update). Current activities include the continued removal of excess soils (‘mass excavation’), completion of the shoring system perimeter walls, and preparations for the next major activity: driven grout pilings, anticipated to start in mid-July. Two days after the above photograph was taken, the site access ramp entrance was shifted from River Parkway (east) to Curry Street (north), which will allow the completion of remaining shoring wall tie backs on River Parkway.
The above view looking to the southeast shows the southern half of the site, which will be fully excavated, receive a rock base, and commence with driven grout pilings within the next two weeks (the northern half of the site follows). Visible to the lower right in the photograph is select final welding of vertical sheet pile joints along the southern / Pennoyer edge of the site. The traditional wood lagging wall shoring system of River Parkway (eastern edge of the site) – also used on the northern and western sides of the site – is visible at left center in the above photograph. Existing condominium buildings in the background, from left to right, are Meriwether, Atwater Place, and John Ross.
Above is a view looking eastward of the Curry Street (northern) shoring system lagging wall (left in photo). Preparations are underway to relocate the entrance to the site access ramp from River Parkway (see upper right in the above photo) to Curry Street, which will allow the completion of shoring wall system tie-backs where the ramp entrance currently resides.
