Mirabella San Francisco Bay is the third not-for-profit Mirabella community being developed by Pacific Retirement Services. Mirabella Seattle, the first, is now in construction and will be completed in 2008. Mirabella Portland is scheduled to begin construction in spring 2008, and Mirabella San Francisco Bay is currently in development. Future residents are very excited about moving to their new homes at these fabulous communities. Here’s what a few of them have to say:
The Hunters from Mirabella Seattle, Washington:
Charter Members Irene and Dan Hunter are very excited about moving to Mirabella Seattle. Dan says, “We had many reasons for choosing Mirabella as our new home.
One consideration was the availability of Continuing Care. Irene and I are very active. We used to run marathons; now we walk, take aqua aerobics, and dance for exercise. But we don’t know what the future holds. Something could come up and we’d have to move to get health care. We wanted to make decisions for ourselves. We wanted to know where we’d be if we ever need that type of care.”
Dan and Irene are so enthusiastic about Mirabella Seattle that they tell everyone they know about it. When the Hunters discussed their plans with their daughter and son-in-law, Linda and David McCammon, they told them how excited they were. Dan says, “We didn’t try to sell them on it or anything, it’s just that we are very pleased with our decision and we’re looking forward to the lifestyle we’ll enjoy there.” Linda and David, who are in their early 60s and live in Portland, Oregon, decided that they too, wanted to retire at a PRS community. They attended the next informational presentation and signed up as Charter Members of Mirabella Portland.
The Spruills from Mirabella Portland, Oregon:
Mr. Lynn Spruill and his wife Susan hold the distinction of being the very first Mirabella Portland Priority Depositors. As Lynn explains, “Susan and I had been thinking about moving to a CCRC. We have a daughter, and we didn’t want her to have to make tough decisions for us later on. We wanted to make the decisions now, while we’re still independent and healthy. About that same time, I received a card in the mail from a friend of mine. He lives on the East Coast, but he said he was moving to a CCRC in Seattle called Mirabella. I looked into that, and when I learned that Pacific Retirement Services was building a Mirabella CCRC here in Portland too, well, I got on the phone and within a half an hour I’d put a check in the mail!”
Mary True from Mirabella San Francisco Bay:
Mary True is one of the first Priority Depositors for Mirabella San Francisco Bay, something she says she’s very excited about. She’s lived in Foster City for 24 years, working as a high-school guidance counselor at Hillsdale High School in San Mateo. Mary’s children and grandchildren live in the Bay Area also, and when she heard about the opportunity presented by Mirabella San Francisco Bay’s Continuing Care program, she was eager to sign up. As she explains, “My parents were living in a retirement home back in Memphis, Tennessee, and my father became ill. He had to go to the hospital, then to a rehab center, then a nursing home, then back to the retirement home. I saw what he went through, and how hard it was on my brother, who also lives in Tennessee. It was a lot of work moving my father around from place to place. Very stressful for everyone. My husband passed away nine years ago and I decided I didn’t want my children to go through everything I went through with my own parents. So when I heard about Mirabella, I knew this was an opportunity to take care of myself and remain independent. So I got on the Waiting List right away!”
